KSU MINI_PAVILION

Deploying Research Infrastructure @ Cobb County Safety Village

Project Description

Kennesaw State University has partnered with the Cobb County Safety and Cobb Schools to create a unique research facility for KSU faculty and students – the KSU Mini Pavilion. We envision that the KSU Mini-Pavilion will provide support for three key areas relevant to our university and its R2 roadmap through:

The significance of our new research efforts is that we can now use the KSU mini-pavilion as a platform to immediately engage the community who will both be using and building safe and sustainable technologies in the future.

Our interdisciplinary team will design, build, and erect the KSU Mini-Pavilion through internal engagement with our students and external engagement with our community partners to provide the most impact.

  • Community outreach in Cobb County addressing themes of sustainability and safety
  • Creating a pipeline for K-12 students to higher education
  • Provide the necessary research infrastructure for our faculty to stay competitive at the national level

Site Analysis

The key entrances to the Safety Village backlot were observed in order to chose the most visible space for the pavilion.

Annual wind patterns and solar movement were studied for the most efficeint and safe use of a solar array mounted on the roof of the pavilion.
